Columbia, S.C. – Companion Benefit Alternatives Inc. (CBA), South Carolina’s largest provider of mental health and substance abuse treatment benefits, is teaming up with U2 Interactive to offer Beating the Blues US to its members.
“We are pleased to offer our members access to Beating the Blues US, an evidence-based program that uses the latest in technology and multimedia to provide instant access to online cognitive behavioral therapy,” said Stephanie Heckart, CBA’s chief operating officer. “Research shows cognitive behavioral therapy is one of the most effective treatments for depression and anxiety-related conditions.”
A recent survey by the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that one in 10 people suffers from depression.
“Many people with depression and anxiety are still hesitant to seek traditional face-to-face treatment,” Heckart said. “We want our members to know that depression is treatable and help is available.”
According to Heckart, Beating the Blues US allows CBA members to access the program 24 hours a day, seven days a week in a confidential format.
“This is a significant partnership for U2 Interactive,” said John Smith, chief operating officer at U2 Interactive, which developed Beating the Blues US. “CBA has recognized that Beating the Blues offers an affordable and highly scalable solution to treating mild and moderate depression and anxiety conditions. We look forward to working with the team at CBA to support them in deploying the program across their membership.”
