Columbia, SC — Companion Benefit Alternatives (CBA) is proud to join the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) for the 11th annual NAMIWalks. NAMIWalks is a community and family event held in communities throughout America to raise awareness of mental illness.
Team CBA is lacing up our sneakers for the annual Mid-Carolina NAMIWalks. The walk is on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the West Columbia Riverwalk Park and Amphitheater. Proceeds from the walk will help support NAMI programs in the midlands of South Carolina.
CBA staff member Hillary Johnson is on the NAMIWalks committee. “When people hear you’re walking for mental illness, it gives them a reason to stop and re-evaluate their own perceptions about mental illness,” says Johnson. “We are helping change the way mental illness is perceived.”
Nearly 60 million Americans experience a mental health condition every year. Find a walk near you — and take steps to fight the stigma of mental illness.
